FROM THERAPEUTIC HOBBY TO BUSINESS

When Terri started crocheting, she had no idea the impact that it would have on her life. She began to relieve stress, wind down after a difficult day, do something fun, be creative, and keep those that she loves warm & cozy.

Terri began getting more and more requests from family and friends, which led to referrals from people looking for well-crafted winter accessories. Soon, she felt that it was becoming more of a business and decided to take the leap -- that is how Busy Hook Happy Heart was born.

OVERCOMING FEAR LED TO TRIUMPH

Like so many of us, there are times when Terri felt she wasn’t good enough or was afraid she might fail, which often stopped her from following through with good ideas.

The support of friends and loved ones including her husband, Glynn, and her children Quinn & Devin, helped to give Terri the confidence to keep going, keep improving and keep growing. She is grateful to do something she enjoys while bringing in extra income for her family. Sometimes it still amazes her.

SHOPPING SMALL

Shopping small and local has always been important to Terri and in these current times, it is even more important. “Small businesses are suffering right now and the only way to ensure their survival is to support them.” She encourages everyone to shop small, especially in Pittsburgh, which is home to so many talented artists and craftspeople!

One of the connections she has made through her work was with Songbird Artistry, learning about the shop through a mutual friend and seeing that we offered an ongoing knit night, which she began attending.
