Maruvian Woman - Unapologetically Black Necklace, by Dianne Quarles
The black and white necklace is made of polymer clay beads and a hand sculpted face of a Black warrior. The circular pattern represents greatness and authority.
24" length with toggle clasp.
The Story: The word "Maruva" comes from the initials of 4 generations of creative Black women including Dianne's great grandmother who escaped from slavery.
After noting the lack of images of Black women in jewelry, Dianne created the Maruvian Women series of beautifully sculpted faces of Black women set into necklaces. The face of a beautiful Black woman is created with polymer clay and set onto an elegant necklace. She is proud of her African heritage, loves her beautiful features and is Unapologetically Black.
This stunning piece by Dianne of DQ Designs can be worn as necklace or hung on a wall as art.
